Yet another Hrishikesh Mukerjee film that radiates sweetness and light. Rajesh Khanna stars in this atypical film where he plays a simple and loveable cook who somehow manages to sort through a family's chronic problems. The film is atypical because there is no heroine in the traditional sense, and the hero uses simple acts of kindness, not muscle, to solve problems. But perhaps he's too good to be true ? One fine day, both the cook and the family's jewellry vanish ...
A true Bollywood hero; a single man playing many roles; a cook, a professor, a musician, a dancer, a fighter, a philosopher, and above all, one to build bridges and provide solutions. He walks into the Sharma household and transforms the way they live. Every problem is solved in a trice and all troubles are gone. But so is the family jewelery.
Once again, a light-hearted, yet meaningful classic by Hrishikesh Mukherjee with a stellar performance by Rajesh Khanna in the lead and a host of sparkling performances by the supporting cast.
This is wonderful, wonderful film with Rajesh Khanna in the role of a cook. The usual Hrishida favorites like Jaya, Asrani etc. play roles that add flavor to the movie, although Rajesh is the star. It's a great example of a film that is both believable and enjoyable. Must see, if not for anything else, then to see Rajesh Khanna washing the dishes and cooking the food : )
